The Bodyguard Come.......

It was a love story that united Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner on the big-screen and made millions at the box office – and now The Bodyguard is being re-spun by Warner Bros. with a remake.

Original screenwriter Lawrence Kasden is being replaced by Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer who will pen the new storyline, featuring the same characters – but this time bodyguard Frank Farmer will be a former Iraq vet.

The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that producer Don Lin is backing the project, which has no further details as yet.

The original film follows a bodyguard who joins a superstar’s security team to protect her from a deranged stalker. It also prompted one of the biggest ballads of all time – Houston’s cover of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You.

The story idea was originally proposed in the 70s with Diana Ross and Steve McQueen, but production wasn’t given the green light until 20 years later.

Upon its 1992 release The Bodyguard received two Oscar nominations and grossed over $121 million in the US.
